A Star Tutoring
"Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I may not remember. Involve me, and I'll understand." -- Native American saying

How is A Star Tutoring going to help my child?
At A Star Tutoring our tutors will work one-on-one/group with the student paying attention not only on his/hers academic achievement but also on his/hers attitude toward learning and studying. Furthermore, with the parents' input, our tutors will design a program for your child that is based on their school's curriculum.

Are there any assessment tests my child must take before being tutored by A Star Tutoring?

No tests required as a prerequisite for your child to be tutored. However, if requested by the Student/Parent/Guardian, we can design a test for your child to evaluate his/her mathematical skills.

Does A Star Tutoring supply any learning materials for the tutoring sessions?
We will provide materials only to complement what your child is learning in school and if it is necessary. However, we do not provide a curriculum. Your child can bring school books or any other materials he/she is working on in the class that relates to the subject we are tutoring.

What are your tutors' qualifications?
Our tutors have University degree and are full-time credentialed teachers, substitute teachers, with at least three years of teaching and  tutoring experience.

Do you provide test preparation for the STAAR test?
Yes, we will help your student for this test. Students may be nervous in anticipation of the new STAAR test. However, there are a number of ways on how to reduce the stress, allowing the student to focus on preparation. Our tutors can work with your child to help on becoming familiar with the new format and timing of the test, focus on the areas that your child is struggling as well as the time dedicated to study. Also, useful advising for the night before the test such as relax, and have a good night sleep. At A Star Tutoring we know it can be stressful to study for standardized test like STAAR. Therefore, we will use our knowledge to help your child master the test as well as to recognize useful skills that he/she may apply to future tests.

How do you monitor my child progress?
If requested, we can provide parents comprehensive progress reports about your child - free of charge.

Can my child have tutoring only once in a while?
Yes, although it is not the most effective way of learning something. To be able to see improvements, your child tutoring has to be carried out on a regular basis, such as once a week or even several times per week.

What should I expect?
We consider that it is crucial for both parent and tutor to have mutual trust. This is because the parent has to trust the tutor in order to entrust their child to the tutor. Parents' suggestions are welcome as they naturally know their child better so they can contribute to the tuition by providing information regarding child's learning ability. We will discuss more on this matter on the in-center meeting.
